Going for a Massage for the First Time? What to Expect
If you are going for a massage for the first time, there is nothing to worry about. When you arrive, we will calmly talk about what is bothering you and what you expect from the massage, you will make yourself comfortable on the heated massage table and I will take care of the rest. The whole visit takes about 10–15 minutes longer than the massage itself – due to the initial consultation and a short rest at the end.
Below you will find everything you need to know: how to prepare, what to bring, how the massage works and how to look after yourself afterwards.
Before You Arrive
- Book by phone on +420 728 276 629 – we will arrange the date, time and type of massage.
- You will find me at Hotel Vista, Hudcova 250/72, Brno (Medlánky / Královo Pole). You can get there by tram to the Hudcova stop.
- Ideally arrive a few minutes early so you can rest after your journey.
- Do not come for a massage on a full stomach or completely on an empty one – a light meal about 1–2 hours beforehand is ideal.
- Avoid alcohol before the massage and limit coffee.
What to Bring
Just come as you are – I have towels and everything you need ready. Bring only comfortable clothes for the journey home and, if you have any, information about your treatment or health limitations.
A Short Consultation to Start
Before your first massage we will have a short chat. I will ask about your health, any pain, injuries or diagnoses, and what you want to achieve with the massage – to release your back, ease neck tension, or simply relax. Based on this I will choose a suitable technique and pressure intensity.
Please be open – some health conditions may be a reason to postpone the massage. You can read more on the contraindications page.
How the Massage Works
- I massage in a quiet, private room with pleasant music and warmth.
- You undress to the level at which you feel comfortable – the areas not being massaged are always covered with a towel or sheet.
- I use quality massage oils; if you have an allergy or sensitive skin, please let me know.
- I adjust the pressure to your needs. At any time during the massage, say if it is too strong or, on the contrary, too light.
- If anything is uncomfortable (position, temperature, music), just say so – we are here for your comfort.
After the Massage
- Take a moment to relax; do not get up from the table abruptly.
- Drink plenty of water – it helps the body flush out the substances released during the massage.
- Plan the rest of the day to be calm, without heavy physical exertion.
- After a deeper or sports massage you may feel mild muscle tension the next day – this is normal and will subside within a day or two.
Choose Your Massage
- Relaxation massage – for overall release and rest
- Classic massage – for a sore back and neck
- Sports massage – for active people and recovery

Frequently Asked Questions Before Your First Massage
Do I have to undress completely?
No. You undress only to the level at which you feel comfortable. The areas not being massaged are always discreetly covered with a towel or sheet.
How long does a massage take?
Depending on the chosen type, usually 30 to 90 minutes. Allow a few extra minutes for the initial consultation and a short rest after the massage.
Will the massage hurt?
A massage should not be painful. With deeper work on stiff muscles you may feel a pleasant "good tension", but I always adjust the pressure to your comfort – just say the word.
Can I have a massage during pregnancy?
Some massages are not suitable during pregnancy and others need to be adapted. Please always tell me about your pregnancy in advance, and in the case of a high-risk pregnancy consult a doctor first. More on the contraindications page.
What if I can't make it at the last minute?
Please let me know as soon as possible, ideally at least 24 hours in advance, so that I can offer the appointment to someone else. You can find the details in the terms and conditions.
